Climate Change

SECTOR AREA

Climate change is a devastating force, creating hunger, vulnerability, and social instability. It undermines economies, fuels resource-based conflicts, and reduces land productivity. At TUPADO, we work with pastoral communities—those on the frontlines of the climate crisis—to build sustainable solutions together.

The most vulnerable pastoral groups are disproportionately affected by extreme weather, heavily dependent on natural resources, and least able to adapt to environmental shocks.

When pastoralists face cyclical droughts, communities endure repeated floods, and entrepreneurs lack access to skills and opportunities, the consequences are severe: loss of livelihoods, land degradation, property destruction, displacement, and disruption of local ecosystems.

Addressing climate change, water security, and natural resource management is critical in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. TUPADO focuses on practical climate solutions that help communities adapt, develop alternative livelihoods, and transform over time. We mobilize resources through partnerships and identify opportunities to scale and replicate these solutions across Kenya and neighboring East African borderlands.
