This is the foundational program that defines TUPADO. The livestock programming focuses on training of pastoralists on proper livestock husbandry practices; extension education to pastoralists on livestock disease diagnosis and prevention; public sensitization of communities on livestock diseases outbreak and reporting; livestock cross-breeding through distribution of gala bucks and black head Persian rams to improve quality of the local breeds; training of agro-pastoralist on fodder production, hay harvesting and reseeding of rangelands to improve productivity of livestock breeds; organizing communities to come up with climate smart ways of rangeland management such as deferred grazing arrangements hence enough feeds for livestock throughout seasons; support county government in training of community livestock disease reporters on syndromic livestock disease surveillance and reporting channels; and facilitate county government department of veterinary services to conduct participatory disease surveillance and intervention.
